Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Gastroenterology, Full-time, Days
Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its Gastroenterology team. Positions are ambulatory only, supporting a group of 14 physicians and 5 APPs.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Potential Saturday coverage (no current call)
Locations Central DuPage Hospital, Delnor Hospital, Naperville
Salary Hourly rate $61.00 – $79.67, placement within range dependent on experience and internal equity. For union positions, placement follows collective bargaining agreement.

Essential Functions
Demonstrate clinical expertise through patient care, including diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems
Responsible for health outcomes of assigned patient population
Collaborate with physicians and other health professionals
Develop and deliver educational programs for patients, families, and staff
Mentor graduate students and staff in advanced practice and patient care
Participate in quality improvement and research initiatives
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, taking histories and performing physical examinations
Provide direct clinical care and prescribe medications and therapies
Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and procedures in accordance with privileges
Evaluate patient needs for further healthcare or referrals
Teach patients and families and document all care in the medical record
Advocate for patients and promote “Patients First” principles
Maintain certifications, continuing education, and licensure requirements
Serve on committees, task forces, and quality improvement projects
Precept students and provide formal education to internal and external groups
Qualifications – Required
Master’s degree from an accredited nursing school or accredited Physician Assistant Program
Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Illinois; APRN must be certified by a national certifying body approved by the Illinois APRN Board
Current license as a Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Illinois if provider is PA
Privileged and credentialed through Northwestern Medicine Medical Staff Office (MSO)
Current CPR – BLS issued by the American Heart Association
