Overview Texas Oncology is looking for a Senior Oncology Research Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in Pearland, Texas. This is a full-time, Monday – Friday position with no weekends, call, or major holidays.

What does the Oncology Research Nurse (RN) do? This position offers a unique opportunity to work as a nurse in oncology clinical research. You will provide care for patients receiving cutting-edge treatments within the oncology clinic and manage the cancer patient journey. Responsibilities

Work closely with physicians to identify and screen potential patients for clinical trial participation.

Present trial concepts and details to oncology patients and conduct the informed consent process.

Assess patients for adverse events and/or changes in condition.

Provide staff and patient education regarding the management and administration of investigational product.

Ensure accurate and timely documentation and data entry to meet trial requirements.

Serve as a liaison between clinic departments to ensure proper trial conduct.

Oversee the preparation of orders by physicians to ensure protocol compliance; enter orders as needed.

Compile and report protocol activity, accrual data, and research financials to practice administration and physicians.

May be responsible for developing practice research budgets.

Maintain regulatory documents in accordance with USOR SOP and applicable regulations.

Participate in scheduling monitoring and auditing visits. Interact with monitors/auditors onsite.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:

Education/Training

Graduate from an accredited nursing education program (BSN preferred).

Current RN licensure in the state of practice.

Current BLS certification required.

Minimum one (1) year of nursing experience required, preferably in oncology.

Experience in clinical research strongly preferred.

OCN, SoCRA or ACRP certification strongly preferred.

Experience Levels

Level I:

Bachelor’s degree in nursing; 1 year of nursing experience; oncology and/or clinical research experience preferred.

Level II:

Minimum 3 years of nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred.

Level Senior:

Minimum 7 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in oncology; previous management/leadership experience preferred.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, informed consent documents, and regulatory documents.

Ability to work independently, organize, prioritize, and follow through with results.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to implement solutions.

Excellent communication and time management skills.

Strong interpersonal skills to interact with multiple people at different levels.

Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions The work environment is representative of an oncology/hematology clinic.
