Overview
Traveling Senior Superintendent - Healthcare Construction role at JE Dunn Construction. The Senior Superintendent will plan, manage and execute all aspects of significantly complex or multiple projects, leading the team, planning construction sequencing and ensuring timely and profitable completion in support of JE Dunn’s strategy, vision and values. This position requires open to 100% travel within the National Healthcare Division. Project assignment/location may not be reflected in this posting. Leads all aspects of the company’s safety culture and promotes an injury-free environment through personal actions and mentoring others; investigates safety incidents and retrains staff as needed. Manages subcontractors, organizes the overall job and workflow; oversees staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs such as Safety, Quality and EEO for projects of various sizes. Develops work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work; coordinates site care, custody and control; leads meetings (daily standup, weekly trade meetings) and participates in progress and OAC meetings. Creates and manages project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager; monitors budgets and costs using project management systems; communicates key project information to owners, design teams, authorities, subcontractors and internal departments. Maintains project documentation, updates drawings and logs, and prepares reports; oversees material and equipment needs; supports procurement processes and formwork/tools selection for self-perform operations. Manages timecard approval to ensure accurate hours and cost codes; ensures quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC and external resources; supports project closeouts and pre-punch activities with owner, architect and authorities. Engages in pursuit processes, pre-plans, staffing, schedule and cost considerations for project changes; participates in owner/architect negotiations and project reviews; supports subcontractor/vendor buy-out meetings. Manages complex stand-alone or multiple projects from planning to completion; may supervise multiple superintendents and influence delivery results through others. Supports strategic initiatives, training, external relationships, project pursuits and new business opportunities; collaborates with marketing for related activities. Manages deliverables from internal resources (e.g., IPS, logistics) and oversees risk identification and mitigation; ensures on-time, on-budget delivery and quality. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building abilities; proficiency in MS Office and construction management software. Solid understanding of construction processes, self-perform work, labor productivity, budgets and profitability; knowledge of layout, crane flagging and rigging; ability to interpret documents and manage schedule impacts. Advanced knowledge in required JE Dunn construction technology and scheduling software; lean processes and construction trade knowledge. Education
High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (Preferred). Experience
10+ years construction experience; 8+ years field supervision experience. Experience leading Lean principles on projects (Preferred). Working Environment
Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required; able to lift at least 50 pounds; travel and/or relocation may be required. May be exposed to extreme conditions; willingness to work non-traditional hours; frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching; occasional sitting and computer use.
