General Summary: The Physician Assistant II will work in a team structure to provide the following: Perform the duties of the surgical PA, provide surgical assistance in the operating room, perform daily post-operative rounds and follow-up with the attending surgeon, and manage admissions, progress notes, orders, and discharge summaries as directed by the attending physician. Evaluate patients in the Emergency Center and on the surgical floor as requested by the attending surgeon. The PA will write history and physical exams, orders, daily progress notes, and facilitate/coordinate care of the patient as requested by the supervising physician. The PA may dictate discharge, transfer and death summaries, and write transfer orders and prescriptions as requested by the supervising physician. Perform bedside procedures including central venous catheter placement, tube thoracostomy, arterial catheter placement and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) when credentialed to perform said procedures. Support Quality initiatives of Holy Cross Hospital including medication reconciliation, universal time out procedures, SCIP, VTE prevention, and electronic documentation. Perform daily post-operative rounds and follow-up with the attending surgeon. Perform admission history and physical examinations, daily progress notes, daily orders, and discharge summaries for patients admitted by the attending surgeon. Evaluate patients in the Emergency Center and on the surgical floor at the request of the attending surgeon. Write history and physical exams, orders, daily progress notes, and facilitate/coordinate care of the patient as requested by the supervising physician. May dictate discharge, transfer and death summaries, and write transfer orders and prescriptions as requested by the supervising physician. Perform bedside procedures including central venous catheter placement, tube thoracostomy, arterial catheter placement and PICC insertion when credentialed. Support Quality initiatives and electronic documentation. Support professional billing processes to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant billing. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required

Ability to work in both the operating room and inpatient units. Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Maryland. Qualify for prescriptive authority. Excellent communication skills and ability to function in a team environment. ACLs certification (ACLS). Proficiency or potential to become proficient in bedside procedures including central line, arterial line placement, chest tube placement, and PICC insertion. Our Commitment
