Nuclear Medicine Technologist

— Ocean Springs Hospital | Full-Time | Day shift (7:30am-4pm) Monday-Friday. Rotating Call and Holidays. 3109 Bienville Blvd, Ocean Springs, MS 39564, United States The Nuclear Med Tech, under the supervision of the Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Radiologist, performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals, exercises professional judgment in performance of services, and applies principles of radiation protection for self and the patient. He/She must be proficient in vascular access. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates equipment requiring detailed concentration for extended periods of time, maintains an adequate inventory of supplies, and upholds quality control of procedures and quality assurance of equipment. Responsibilities

Help ensure that the Radiology department meets accreditation agency standards and achieves Health System objectives. Assist with the development and revision of policies, procedures, and protocols as requested. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals under supervision. Education

Associate’s degree in a health field required. Graduate of an approved Nuclear Radiology Technology Program required. License

Must be currently licensed as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, RT Nuclear Medicine Technologist, or a Medical Radiation Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, Inc. (NMTCB). Must be licensed by the Mississippi State Department of Health. Certification

Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have an appropriate level of de-escalation training. Experience

Prior experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist preferred. Physical Demands

Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions in day-to-day activities. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and walk without undue fatigue. May be exposed to communicable disease or radiation. Mental Demands

Must demonstrate keen mental faculties, assessment and decision-making abilities. Must demonstrate superior communication, speaking/enunciation, and written skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations. Special Demands

Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Proficient computer skills (keyboard proficiency) and office technology (telephone, fax). Intermediate knowledge of MS Outlook and Word. Exposure to communicable diseases, CRT equipment, blood and/or body fluids, and electromagnetic energy.
