Job Summary The Director of Critical Care is a senior nursing leadership role responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) and Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) units. This leader ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence in clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and direction for the CVICU and CVPC units.
Develop and implement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and staff engagement.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
Collaborate with physicians, administrators, and interdisciplinary teams to promote best practices in critical care.
Manage department budgets, staffing, and resource allocation.
Drive quality improvement projects and patient safety initiatives.
Lead and mentor nursing leaders and staff to achieve professional development and clinical excellence.
Promote a culture of accountability, service, and excellence.
Qualifications
Education (Required):
Master’s Degree in Nursing OR
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with MBA, MHA, or another related healthcare leadership degree
Preferred:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Licensure/Certifications (Required):
Active RN license in North Carolina
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
National Nursing Leadership Certification required within 1 year of accepting the position (or signed commitment letter)
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years experience in critical care nursing Required.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience Required. (Preferred: 5 years of leadership in a critical care/cardiovascular environment)
