We are seeking an HVAC Mechanic Apprentice (Union) to join our federal team supporting the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. Johnson Controls Federal Systems (JCFS) is a specialized team serving as a trusted partner to the federal government. We help modernize U.S. military installations, Department of Defense and other federal facility facilities to be smarter, more resilient, efficient, sustainable, and secure. Union: 602 Responsibilities
Primarily perform HVAC mechanical equipment service support, some electrical and controls work, and all other work under the labor agreement assigned by the Employer Assist Journeyman Mechanics with more complex problems Support preventative maintenance duties on different types of HVAC equipment Troubleshoot and resolve problems Respond to basic warranty calls Keep Managers, Foreman, contractors, and the customer informed of job progress and issues as needed Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent Ability to perform general building maintenance Self-starter with ability to work independently Valid driver’s license Ability to supplement on-the-job training with training provided through the apprenticeship program Good verbal and written communication skills Must be willing to join local union 110 Ability to obtain and maintain required government clearances and any other worksite specific badges (background/character, work experience, education, financial/credit and criminal history checks) Preferred Qualifications
2+ years experience working with HVAC mechanical equipment Familiarity with HVAC Controls/BAS systems (Direct Digital Controls) EPA Refrigeration certification About Johnson Controls
