Qualifications
Ph.D. or Master's degree in Mathematics is required. This requirement may be waived for adjuncts teaching only corequisite math support classes. Demonstrated potential for excellence in classroom teaching. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Facility in online communication via email, learning management systems, and online homework platforms. Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check required.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include teaching face-to-face sections of College Algebra, Math for Business, Precalculus, Quantitative Reasoning, and/or corequisite math support courses on campus in Austin, TX. This entails following a common syllabus, utilizing online homework (MyOpenMath, MyMathLab, or ALEKS) and learning management systems (Canvas), holding at least one on-campus office hour per week per section, and keeping in contact with the course coordinator, primarily by email, for common assignments and exams. Class size is generally 24-30 students; (current as of Fall 2024) per 3-credit course section.
