Compensation : $25.66/hour (plus .50 for Bilingual Spanish)
Hours : On-Call, hours not guaranteed, opportunity to be up to 40 hours/week for a limited duration

NeighborImpact Head Start program Overview NeighborImpact Head Start is a comprehensive early education program serving children and families in Central Oregon. It integrates high-quality pre-kindergarten education with essential services such as health, nutrition, and family advocacy. Operating across multiple sites, NeighborImpact Head Start supports social competence, school readiness, and overall well-being of children from ages three to five.
Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities This role is a substitute position and supports the teaching team to enhance students’ learning and development. Under the guidance of the Teacher Advocate, this role involves creating a safe and engaging classroom environment. The Substitute Assistant Teacher leads the classroom during the Teacher’s breaks or absences and plans and conducts various gross motor and small group activities daily. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential. This role is ideal for those passionate about education and child development, looking to make a meaningful impact in a supportive school setting.
Qualifications Required:
Educational requirements:
Associate or baccalaureate degree with a minimum of 12 ECE credits or equivalent
OR Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, which is equivalent to Step 7 on the Oregon Registry
OR Current enrollment in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree in ECE or equivalent
OR Current enrollment in a child development associate credential (CDA) program to be completed within 2 years
AND
High school diploma or GED
Diploma and transcripts are required to validate an associate’s degree in early childhood education/related field and to verify ECE/related coursework
Competency with Microsoft applications required
Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children’s needs required. This position is rated as active and occasionally requires the individual to lift 50 pounds
Food Handler’s Card
Current enrollment in the OR Child Care Division-Criminal History Registry (CBR)
Within 60 days of hire, Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification
Access to reliable transportation
Above certifications must be kept current to remain employed
Must have an initial health examination, and a periodic re-examination (as recommended by health care provider) so as to assure that employees do not pose a significant risk to the health or safety of others due to communicable diseases, that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation.
Preferred:
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
6 months experience in a preschool setting preferred
Head Start parent or past parent preferred
