Minimum Educational Level: • Bachelor’s Degree • Alaska Certification – Type A Alaska Teaching Certificate (or ability to transfer out-of-state certificate to Alaska).

Duties and Responsibilities:

An elementary teacher performs under the general direction of the site administrator or program manager, and with assistance from appropriate staff personnel. A teacher fosters and enhances an effective learning environment through virtual capabilities; establishes and adapts learning objectives and standards for regular and special education students based upon general Chatham School District guidelines and the rules and regulations governing special education; provides instruction, counsels, disciplines, and supervises to meet the individual needs of the assigned students, and to evaluate student performance and progress.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Knowledge and experience with RTI preferred • Knowledge of multiple teaching strategies for diverse students • Committed to excellence • Strong willingness to be a learner, leader, and motivator • Strong interpersonal skills, including collegiality and collaboration • Positive, enthusiastic, energetic, and optimistic • Able to develop rapport with students at all levels • Organized & efficient • Flexible • Reading, Writing, Math, Science multiage strategies. • Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles • Knowledge of subject matter, including Alaska State Standards and subject-specific frameworks • Knowledge of assessments • Ability and willingness to implement the Chatham School District Instructional Guidelines and Best Practices • Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data • Use student assessment data to guide instruction • Ability and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community • Ability to teach multiple grade levels in one setting

Compensation is determined by education and experience on the certified salary schedule in the negotiated agreement.
