Crowne Plaza Lansing Job Overview Accounting Specialist is mainly responsible for the processing, recording, and dispensing of payments to hotel liabilities from hotel payment accounts. This position also works within the accounting team with various assigned tasks to benefit the hotel and the team while maintaining a positive attitude. Description Accounting Specialist is mainly responsible for the processing, recording, and dispensing of payments to hotel liabilities from hotel payment accounts. This position also works within the accounting team with various assigned tasks to benefit the hotel and the team while maintaining a positive attitude. Duties And Responsibilities The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and be able to demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job: Match invoices with purchase orders to ensure that all bills represent authorized and legitimate purchases. Properly code and record expenses to the correct cost-center /general ledger account. Process timely payments to hotel vendors and handle their inquiries. Reconcile vendor statements to ensure all invoices are paid Track and manage purchase orders that aren’t received at the end of each month Manage corporate credit card statements and receipts for backup and coding Process liquor invoices and update inventory pricing Assist with completing monthly inventory hand counts of food & beverage products Process various journal entries Run and distribute various end of month reports Assist in managing hotel contracts Input report figures into the Daily Revenue Report Coordinate hotel purchases across multiple departments using the PAR system Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Basic knowledge of Excel and Adobe Acrobat. Must be detail-oriented and organized Communication skills are essential when interacting with vendors, guests and employees. Ability to prepare and analyze data figures, and transcriptions prepared on and generated by a computer. Ability to manually perform these operations if necessary. Physical Demands Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems. Must be able to sit at a desk for up to eight hours per day. Occasionally move about the office to collaborate with co-workers, attend meetings, access file cabinets, and operate office equipment. Length of time for these tasks vary from day to day. Requires substantial use of wrists, hands, and fingers to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line phones, filing cabinets, and other equipment as necessary. Occasionally requires lifting or transporting items weighing up to 15 pounds. Requirements A high school or equivalent education is required. At least one year in Accounts Payable position and an associate’s degree or certification is preferred. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required. Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing rules and regulations for the safe and effective operations of the Hotel’s facilities. Associates who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subjects to disciplinary action, up to and including, separation from employment.
