Telecommunications Technician 1

is responsible for the installation of communications cabling and equipment in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. As a technician, you should have experience installing basic equipment using hand tools and power tools, a basic understanding of Telecom Systems, blueprints, and knowledge of codes and standards. Telecommunications Technicians are considered full-time employees with company benefits. In this position, you will gain understanding and knowledge of Telecommunication Systems including OSP & ISP Copper, CCTV, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), Fiber Optic, and Structured Cabling. Additionally, each technician must strive to become a qualified BICSI Technician. Core Market Sector: The candidate must have hands-on experience and knowledge in the installation of Low-Voltage specialty contracting industries, solution-driven initiatives, and leadership in field-project teams. This role supports complex scopes in Healthcare, Government, Higher-Education, Federal Aviation (Preferred), and Mission Critical industries. Position Requirements & Responsibilities: Basic knowledge of operating Hand & Power Tools safely, adhering to all Safety Regulations & Procedures. Ability to survey and document existing telecommunications infrastructure including Copper & Fiber Cables, active & passive components using electronic devices. Ability to sketch rack, floor, and wall elevations. Experience in terminating, testing, and troubleshooting horizontal copper cables (Cat 5, Cat 6). Experience installing various types of Low-Voltage Cabling. Understanding of installation, inspection, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting of ISP/OSP Telecommunications Systems (Fiber Optics, Category 5, 6, 6A & associated equipment), including pathways, cable trays, cabinets, racks, devices, prefabricated components, assemblies, and grounding systems. Ability to lead the installation of cables from Telecommunications Rooms to work area outlets, following directions and ensuring proper bundling and organization. Must have a full set of tools prior to employment, as per the provided list. Knowledge of color codes and familiarity with TIA & EIA standards. Ability to label and test horizontal cables. Perform quality assurance checks to ensure installation standards are met. Maintain a clean work environment and secure tools and materials daily. Install systems including backbone and riser cables, racks, cable trays, OSP & ISP, and grounding. Travel up to 25%, domestic and international. Education, Experience & Technical Qualifications: Minimum 3+ years of experience in telecommunications installation, specifically OSP & ISP Copper, CCTV, DAS, Fiber Optic, and structured cabling in diverse construction industries. High School Diploma or GED required. Must be 18+ with reliable transportation. Experience in complex markets like Federal & Government facilities, Healthcare, and Mission Critical facilities. Ability to pass basic telecommunications knowledge test. Experience reading plans and specifications. Strong communication, organization, and time management skills. Punctuality, teamwork, and safety compliance. Wear appropriate clothing (long pants, shoulder-covering shirt). Provide basic tools as per the list before starting. Ability to obtain security clearance if needed. Desired Qualifications: Active Security Clearance Valid Passport and willingness to travel overseas BICSI credentials, including Technician Manufacture or Fiber Certifications Experience with Microsoft Office applications Physical Abilities Required: Lifting at least 100 pounds at once and 60 pounds for extended periods. Relocating a 12-foot ladder unaided. Working at heights up to 60 feet, climbing scaffolds, lifts, ladders. Walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead. Good vision (corrected if needed), color vision, hearing, and communication skills. Using ladders and tools safely. Recognizing potential problems and applying general rules to solve specific issues. Detail observation within a few feet. Effective listening and comprehension of spoken information.
