Central Sterile Processing Technician Hours:
8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday 2:00PM-10:30PM. Required call overnights, weekends and holidays. The hourly wage for this opportunity is $21.15 to $31.73, with a median wage of $26.44/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees. Incumbents in this position are responsible for the decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with department and infection control policies. Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient’s condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams, consistent with our Gillette CARES expectations. Major Job Responsibilities Includes: Washes, disinfects and decontaminates surgical instruments and equipment according to policy. Sorts, reassembles, wraps and places instruments in appropriate containers according to instrument cards and appropriate sterilization instructions, updates sets and methods of sterilization. Inspects instruments for integrity, functionality and cleanliness before assembly in containers, wraps or peel pouches. Handles instruments, equipment and supplies to maintain their sterility and integrity. Technical skills are performed to optimize processes, materials and time management. Estimates supply usage for upcoming week and requests supplies to be ordered as needed in sterile processing area. Maintains decontamination and instrument assembly area in an orderly and organized manner. Qualifications Required: Certification as a Registered Certified Central Services Technician or must obtain within one year of hire. Ability to work well with children and adults; interest in working with children and adolescents with disabilities. Physically able to work hours required and lift heavy instrument sets, hours include off-premise call. Preferred: At least one year of prior experience as a central services technician. Knowledge of the principles of decontamination/sterilization. Gillette requires all staff to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 unless there is a Gillette-approved medical or religious exemption.
