Senior Welding Technician

Radiant System is an El Segundo, CA‑based startup building the world’s first mass‑produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1‑megawatt failsafe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to five years without the need to refuel. Portable nuclear power with rapid deploy capability can replace similar‑sized diesel generators and provide critical asset support for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases.
Responsibilities
Perform MIG, TIG, and tube welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
Operate welding equipment and tools with precision to meet tight tolerances.
Conduct inspections to ensure all welds meet internal and external quality standards.
Assist with basic machining (lathe, mill, drill press) and metal fabrication (cutting, grinding, fitting).
Participate in electrical work (wiring, troubleshooting, assembling components).
Support assembly and testing of mechanical or electro‑mechanical systems.
Collaborate with engineers and technicians to improve weld and build processes.
Qualifications
5+ years of professional welding experience with MIG, TIG, and tube welding.
Proficiency welding stainless steel, aluminum, and mild steel.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Strong attention to detail and organized with minimal supervision.
Experience with traditional inspection tools for parts and assemblies.
Ability to read mechanical drawings and interpret tolerances.
Experience manufacturing with machine tools, saws, grinders, etc.
Ability to work in outdoor environments, at elevated heights, and travel as required.
Desired Skills
Experience operating high pressure and temperature systems.
Experience with CNC programming and manual machine operation.
GD&T interpretation preferred.
Knowledge of electrical components and high‑voltage systems.
Experience operating safely in shop environments and lifting rigging heavy crane operations.
Proficient computer skills; comfortable with email and Microsoft Office suite.
Additional Requirements
Willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
100% onsite at El Segundo HQ.
