Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060. Job Summary
Manages the occupational safety component of the University\'s Environmental Health and Safety operations and evaluates occupational safety hazards. Responsible for implementing occupational safety control programs designed to mitigate hazards and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and internal policies and procedures. Responsibilities
Analyzes work environments and practices to identify potential hazards and develop strategies for controlling them Conducts inspections and evaluations of work environments, equipment, and job practices in maintenance shops, construction projects, art studios, science and research labs, and other areas to assess risks and ensure adherence to applicable EHS laws and regulations Recommends feasible and effective measures to control identified hazards and mitigate risk to ensure continued protection from potentially hazardous work conditions Works with supervisors, laboratory personnel, faculty members, project managers, and engineers to ensure effective implementation of identified control measures addressing potentially hazardous conditions or equipment Designs and implement management and operation control programs including policies and procedures to eliminate or reduce risks and prevent disease or injury to the KSU community and environment Supervises staff and develops and conducts safety training for staff, faculty and students Conducts accident and incident investigations to identify causes and determine future preventative measures Participates in and provides technical guidance and leadership on campus Safety Committees Maintains records and produces routine reports for regulatory agencies and top management Participates in response to campus emergency situations and provides technical guidance on safety issues related to response efforts Participates in interdepartmental and cross-functional teams to advocate for and advance University EHS initiatives and compliance objectives Reviews new facility plans for compliance with applicable laws, regulations and best practices Assists in general safety oversight and duties as part of the KSU EHS team Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited institution in Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field such as Engineering, Biology, or Chemistry Other Required Qualifications Current, valid, and unrestricted Georgia driver\'s license Required Experience Five (5) years of related work experience in Occupational Health and Safety in a large organization Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications Professional certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is highly desirable Preferred Educational Qualifications Master\'s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or related discipline Preferred Experience Higher education experience; experience in designing and conducting safety audits and inspections including ability to communicate findings in written reports; experience in developing and conducting safety training for different audiences including staff, supervisors and managers; collaborative work experience Salary and Benefits
Proposed Salary: The midpoint of the salary range is $72,600. Offers are based on relevant experience.
