many contractors roll into permanent roles on new sites. Focus: Direct daily mechanical and large-bore piping work for crushing, conveying, flotation, and thickener systems inside an operating mill upgrade. Interpret P&IDs and piping isometrics to guide layout, fit-up, welding, flushing, and real-time field resolutions. Coordinate
closely with structural, electrical, and instrumentation leads so parallel work fronts never clash. Plan eight- to ten-hour shifts, sequence work packages, and stay ahead of material or tooling gaps to maximize craft productivity. Champion zero-incident safety practices, including confined-space, LOTO, and elevated-work procedures. Sign off on pressure tests, bolt-torque logs, and turnover dossiers, confirming the system is ready for commissioning. Track progress, change orders, and punch-list items through mechanical completion, reporting variance against the CPM schedule. Mentor junior field engineers and foremen, fostering a cohesive, high-performance culture. Skill Set: 10+ years supervising mechanical and piping scopes on mineral-processing, mining, pulp-and-paper, or heavy-industrial projects. Proven expertise with large rotating equipment, slurry or utility piping, and related QA/QC such as pressure testing and flange management. Ability to read and red-line P&IDs, isometrics, vendor prints, and structural drawings. Safety-first leadership style with a solid record of incident-free projects. Journeyperson ticket, technical diploma, or engineering degree in a mechanical discipline is preferred. Familiar with MS Project or Primavera P6 and basic document-control platforms for field reporting.
