Overview

We are looking for a Catering Sales Manager to join our team at the Sheraton Pentagon City. As the Catering Sales Manager, you will manage catering accounts to achieve guest satisfaction and solicit past and new business to ensure revenue goals are achieved or exceeded. You will solicit new catering sales accounts, entertain, and maintain relationships with existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals in food, beverage and room rental segments. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Solicit new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication. Understand monthly forecasting and the annual budget process, as well as pace and productivity. Understand yield management using historical data. Evaluate every catering opportunity to maximize revenue and profitability while meeting customer expectations. Research the competition’s products, services and pricing and use it to develop strategic business plans. Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel to clients, including room rental, A/V and other revenue opportunities. Experience selling to a variety of market segments. Book repeat business by maintaining long-term client relationships. Participate in industry organizations (NACE, MPI) and community activities to maintain awareness and create booking opportunities. Utilize sales techniques including closing and negotiating skills. Present at hotel site inspections and client presentations. Participate in trade shows and sales blitzes. Work with creative teams to provide innovative set-ups, menus, and functions; collaborate with Chef on pricing specialty menus. Coordinate with the banquet department on operations and event execution; evaluate alternatives and decide on actions quickly. Provide direction, coordination, and evaluation of catering event operations; ensure accurate banquet event orders. Experience providing A/V equipment and operating A/V as a profit center. Use and teach computer skills, including Word and Excel; Delphi experience is a plus. Know market trends, competition, and key hotel customers. Work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for events and groups. Maintain regular attendance as required. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications And Skills

Prior experience in hospitality with specific experience in catering sales is essential. 1+ year in catering sales required. Experience at a similar size and quality hotel. Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi. Advanced knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training, and motivating peers. Knowledge of hotel features, benefits, and competing hotels within the market. Flexible schedule based on needs of groups and property. Knowledge of hotel operations, marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, business planning, budget forecasting, quality assurance, hospitality law, and long-range planning. Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines. Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to adapt communication style for different audiences. Compensation
