We foster a collaborative and supportive environment where innovation and compassion drive everything we do.**Our Cooks:****Food Preparation & Service*** Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and recipes, including regular and therapeutic diets.* Monitor food quality, taste, and temperature; make adjustments as needed to ensure excellence.* Portion and present food attractively, using appropriate garnishes, sauces, and accompaniments.* Follow batch cooking guidelines for efficient, continuous service.**Kitchen Equipment & Utensil Use*** Safely operate kitchen equipment including slicers, grinders, blenders, ovens, and griddles.* Prepare food using optimal methods for taste, texture, and nutrition.**Sanitation & Safety*** Adhere to all food handling and sanitation regulations including proper labeling, dating, and storage of food.* Maintain clean and safe work areas in the kitchen, dining areas, and storage rooms.* Conduct daily sanitation rounds; monitor and record refrigerator/freezer temperatures.* Follow infection control practices and safety protocols.**Inventory & Supply Management*** Monitor and rotate food inventory (FIFO method).* Assist in ordering food and supplies to maintain appropriate inventory levels.* Record food usage for cost and waste control.* Conduct quarterly inventory of kitchen tools, dishware, and utensils.**Catering & Special Events*** Prepare food for catered events, holiday meals, and special occasions as outlined on the function board.**Team Collaboration*** Support efficient kitchen workflow through effective communication and collaboration.* May supervise or train kitchen staff as needed.* Exhibit teamwork and adaptability in a dynamic culinary environment.**Other Job Responsibilities*** Promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Transforming Age in all areas of responsibility, and demonstrate commitment to
and strategic goals* Other duties as assigned**What you need to succeed!*** At least 18 years of age.* Cleared Criminal Record clearance through the Department of Social Services* Health screening and TB test results not older than 6 months.* Current First Aid Training and Certifications* California Food Handler Card or ServSafe Certification required; Must be obtained prior to or within 30 days of hire.* Prior experience as a cook/lead cook (1-2 years preferred).* Ability to prepare high quality food for our residents.* Flexibility with schedule may be required, with the occasional need to work Saturdays/Sundays, and other days/shifts as needed.* Maintain professional relationships with food and equipment venders as needed.* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with staff and residents.* Ability to prepare therapeutic/modified diets.**Physical Requirements*** The ability to push/pull/carry up to 30lbs #J-18808-Ljbffr
