Job Summary: The Research Associate will join a collaborative team in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, contributing to exciting research projects that explore the host response to infections. This role offers the opportunity to actively engage in meaningful scientific inquiry by conducting experiments under the guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI). Responsibilities: Perform molecular biology, virology, and cell biology experiments. Conduct animal experiments, including animal handling and physical examinations, injections, blood collection, tissue isolation, processing, and analysis. Analyze and interpret experimental data. Prepare and present results to the Principal Investigator (PI) and laboratory personnel. Assist the PI with protocol development, submission, and approval processes. Contribute to laboratory management by maintaining inventories and standard operating procedures (SOPs), ordering supplies, and coordinating routine lab maintenance. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of research experience required. Previous experience in experimental systems related to mutagenesis, homologous/non-homologous recombination, and deaminase activities. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in molecular biology or related field plus three (3) years of research and/or research lab experience.
