A Day in the Life of an Emergency Services Tech Transport Responsible for the transportation of stable patient transfers following initial hospital assessments. In the Emergency Department, works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Emergency Department Provider to provide patient care and assist in performing assigned procedures within scope of training.

Here is What You Will Be Doing:

Transports stable patients to Cheyenne Regional facilities and within the facilities.

Responsible for safe driving and maintaining proper fuel levels.

Keeps vehicles clean and stocked at all times.

Works within specific certificate/license scope of practice outside of the facility.

Inside the ER: Performs assigned procedures including electrocardiogram testing (EKG); wound cleansing and bandaging, vital sign measurements, specimen collection, intraosseous placement, bladder (Foley) catheterization, and ultrasound intravenous placement.

Provides point of care testing including blood glucose, troponin, chem 8, and lactic acid.

Assists providers and nurses with patient exam and sterile procedures.

Performs fiberglass splints.

Provides training for orthopedic devices including crutch training, splint and sling care; perform orthopedic device care and cleaning.

Removes sutures and staples from wounds as directed.

Rooms patients and assists in monitoring condition; provides patient updates as warranted to appropriate healthcare provider.

Responds to traumas and codes to provide intubation assistance and compressions.

Responsible for cleaning and stocking supplies in patient rooms and department.

Documents patient care and condition as appropriate.

Provides oxygen delivery including nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal adjuncts.

Here is What You Need:

Certification (must meet one of the following):

Current Wyoming Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification from the Wyoming Office of Emergency Medical Services

Current Wyoming Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) Certification from the Wyoming Office of Emergency Medical Services

Current Wyoming Intermediate Emergency Medical Technician (IEMT) Certification from the Wyoming Office of Emergency Medical Services

Current Wyoming Paramedic Certification from the Wyoming Office of Emergency Medical Services

Valid USA driver’s license

Must have clean driving record that follows Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s driving guidelines

Must be 21 years of age or older (for insurance purposes)

14 Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date

Nice to Have:

National EMT certificate or National Paramedic license

Prior experience in patient care setting

Successful completion of EOS driving test
