Job Description White Oak conserves and sustains some of the earth's rarest wild animals through innovative training, research, education, and conservation breeding programs that contribute to the survival of wildlife in nature. The conservation programs span 600 acres along the St. Mary’s River in northeast Florida, surrounded by 17,000 acres of mixed forest and wetlands that make up the beautiful White Oak property. Founded in 1982, White Oak leads professional efforts to improve veterinary care, develop holistic animal management techniques, and better understand the biology of critically endangered species by providing excellent care and managing conservation programs for over 30 species of imperiled wildlife in large, naturalistic habitats.

Position Purpose To provide exceptional service to White Oak guests and co-workers in implementing and managing the daily execution of all food service duties. The F&B Manager oversees the operations of the department.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Develop and implement food and beverage systems and procedures.

Develop and implement employee recruiting and retention plans.

Supervise daily food and beverage shift operations and ensure compliance with labor policies, standards, and procedures.

Schedule employees to meet business demands and track employee time and attendance.

Develop and track department budget; purchase and manage supplies, equipment, and uniforms.

Monitor individual performance; communicate areas that need attention and follow up to ensure employees understand expectations and parameters.

Manage team performance, including training and performance evaluations.

Celebrate successes and recognize the contributions of team members.

Day-to-Day Duties and Responsibilities

Organize and implement detailed work assignments for the team.

Plan, organize, and brief food and beverage staff on the shift and coordinate activities ensuring the highest standards are maintained.

Allocate staff to various areas to ensure maximum efficiency of performance and optimum utilization of resources.

Work closely with the Culinary, Housekeeping, Guest Relations, Maintenance teams and Conference & Events Coordinator to ensure all tasks are completed, effectively, on time and to the required standards.

Maintain the specified guest supplies stock in designated areas.

Maintain proper inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies while managing cost.

Report, record, and follow up on maintenance issues in all areas to ensure they are functional. Recommend repairs and replacements to the Sr. Guest Services Manager.

Ensure the department leads the charge regarding recycling efforts and environmental initiatives.

Complete any special assignments as directed by the Sr. Guest Services Manager.

Providing and Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service

Respond to and manage guest problems and complaints.

Monitor feedback and participate in the development and implementation of corrective action plans to improve guest satisfaction.

Empower employees to provide excellent customer service.

Emphasize guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and strive for continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent plus four years of experience in the food service, hospitality, or related industry preferably in a managerial role.

Knowledge of food service practice and procedures preferred.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness standards.

Customer service experience required.

Intermediate to advanced MS Office experience.

Knowledge of inventories, scheduling and productivity management required.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to operate without direct supervision and be self-motivated, persistent, confident, tenacious, and take pride in work.

Efficient time management: ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines; and ability to be fast and flexible – multitask.

Dependable, trustworthy, and neatly groomed.

Attentive to detail.

Florida or Georgia Driver’s license required.

Must pass pre-employment drug test and may be asked to complete background check.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Physical Demands: Standing and walking for extended periods of time. Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching. Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally. Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to fifty pounds. Environment: Indoor/outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures exceeding 90 degrees at times. Changing priorities and interruptions.
