Tenure Track Faculty – Computer Science
University of Denver invites applications for multiple nine‑month, tenure‑track Assistant Professor positions to begin in Fall 2026. The Department of Computer Science, part of the Daniel Felix Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science (RSECS), is located in Denver, Colorado.
Location Denver is a high‑quality city with over 300 days of sunshine, a diverse economy spanning aerospace, cybersecurity, health tech, financial services, and software engineering, and easy access to outdoor recreation.
Department Overview The Computer Science Department is a vibrant, supportive, and optimistic community dedicated to teaching, student mentorship, and research. The department fosters curiosity, creativity, and confidence with a strong human‑centered focus on computing research. Undergraduate ethics computing is a cornerstone of the curriculum, reflecting a commitment to using technology to improve the world.
Research Focus
Artificial intelligence for the public good – fairness, transparency, ethical alignment across domains such as energy, sustainability, government, education, healthcare, law, and critical infrastructure.
Security and privacy – foundational and practical aspects of security, agency security, critical infrastructure protection, AI‑driven security and resilience, adversarial robustness, provenance tracking, and AI‑assisted privacy management and governance.
Games and systems – research into games and integration of systems, algorithms, or artificial intelligence into work.
Algorithmic theory – improving and expanding algorithms for real‑world applications with a focus on humane and responsible computing.
Required Qualifications
PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline by appointment.
Evidence of research productivity and funding potential aligned with the appointment level.
Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate Computer Science courses.
Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration within and beyond the Ritchie School.
Commitment to inclusive excellence through teaching, research, and/or service.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience applying computing to solve societal challenges and contribute to the public good.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching and pedagogy that encourages community and belonging.
Record of interdisciplinary work and/or externally funded research.
