Position Description: Prepares and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum/activities/varied and exciting centers/gross motor activities/ stories and songs of assigned group. Curriculum will be properly written in detail in the plan book on a 4 week basis, as designed by the educational coordinator. Classroom activities will be prepared and organized in folders for 2 weeks in advance. Prepare a daily schedule and assume general responsibilities for the classroom. Supervise and actively participate in all daily activities. Arranging furniture and maintaining a clean and orderly classroom. Responsible for accurate record keeping including attendance, daily reports, incident and accident reports, sign in sheets and log book. Evaluates children with an observational checklist and conducts fair and accurate diagnostic testing, followed by parent-teacher conferences. Serves as a model to supervise, observe and evaluate classroom assistant and aides, volunteers, and students. Attend required staff meetings and is actively participating with 24 hours professional development per year. Works alongside TA in the classroom and outdoor play. Supervise and actively participate in indoor and outdoor free play, bathroom, group time, project, play-doh, manipulative toys, centers and games. Create a safe, warm, loving, accepting, happy, and creative learning environment. Assist during breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Follow proper food safety procedures. Set up and clear away snack. Assist with setting up cots for nap, assist during naptime and putting away cots after nap. Maintain a clean and orderly classroom by washing surfaces and sweeping floors. Assist the TA with the classroom environment, bulletin boards, art work, organizing centers, etc. Relate to children and all adults in a courteous, respectful, and positive manner. If the teacher is absent, the assistant teacher will assume the responsibilities of the teacher. Administer tests, assessing progress, and preparing evaluations.
