Saint Joseph's College of Maine is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Assistant Coach - Women's Lacrosse. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach with all aspects of the Women's Lacrosse program. The ideal candidate will be available to serve as the Assistant Coach during the time period of August 26, 2025 - May 31, 2026. Position Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach with recruitment of student-athletes Assist the Head Coach with execution of practice plans Implement strategic and tactical strategies established by the Head Coach Serve as a mentor and resource to students in the program Ensure compliance with NCAA, GNAC and departmental policies and procedures Support the department of Athletics by: assisting with leadership and team management Assisting with the managing of the sport program development and performance Ensuring athletic department collaboration and compliance Collaborates with the Head Coach and other coaching staff to ensure alignment with broader departmental goals and priorities Represent the college at relevant regional and national sport events, tournaments, and recruiting events Participate in periodic team meetings with the Athletic Department to discuss performance, recruitment, and student-athlete development Assist with developing and executing strategic plans for team performance, including individual player development and team objectives Analyze performance data, including player stats and game footage, to assess team strengths and areas for improvement Foster an environment that supports student-athletes' growth on and off the field, helping balance athletic commitments with academic responsibilities Ensure that players receive appropriate support for mental and physical well-being, working with athletic trainers and sports psychologists as needed Create a structured feedback loop with athletes and assistant coaches to continually evaluate and enhance the program Mentor students to uphold the college's values and academic standards while participating in the sport program Ensure compliance with all NCAA regulations (or equivalent) and institutional policies regarding eligibility, recruitment, and student-athlete conduct Align with the broader department goals and priorities Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum of 1 year of coaching experience at the collegiate level or a comparable competitive environment CPR/AED certification required and must maintain certification Supervision and Scheduling Demands Receives minimal supervision, will meet on a regular basis with the Head Coach Ability to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays for practice, games, and team-related events Occasional travel is required for games and tournaments Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Demonstrated commitment to promoting student-athletes' academic, athletic, and personal success In-depth knowledge of the sport techniques, strategies, and rules at the collegiate level Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop student-athletes Consistent attendance at team-related events and activities Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse audiences Ability to manage and organize multiple tasks and priorities effectively Strong interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment Commitment to continuous learning and staying current on best practices in coaching, student-athlete development, and wellness Knowledge of safety protocols related to physical conditioning and sport injuries Computer competence in word processing, database management and electronic mail Must demonstrate teamwork skills and a willingness to help others Possess a positive attitude to foster a cohesive working environment Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive situations Tolerates work-related stress effectively, maintains professionalism and adherence to core values in all interactions Must have a valid driver's license, complete a driver training program and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record Required Trainings (to Be Completed Upon Hire) Bloodborne Pathogens & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Hazard Communication & The Global Harmonizing System Working Conditions in Hot & Cold Environments About Saint Joseph's College Of Maine Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1912, Saint Joseph's College is Maine's only Catholic college.
