City of Safford . This patrols the city, responds to emergencies, enforces the law, and provides public safety services. Responsibilities

Patrols assigned area of the City, observes conditions and activities that may be potential or actual harm to persons, property, disruption of public order, or any violation of the law. Responds to observed or reported suspected or actual harmful or illegal conditions through investigating and taking appropriate action to prevent, subdue or alleviate such conditions. Prepares descriptive reports and provides testimony about potentially suspected or actually harmful or illegal conditions and actions taken in response for use by the department or other agencies. Apprehends felony and misdemeanor traffic and criminal violators, issues citations, warnings and testing and booking offenders. Transports prisoners to jail and court hearings as directed. Collects and preserves evidence, assures security at crime scenes. Interviews and takes detailed statements from witnesses and suspects. Attends and participates in a variety of training programs. Assists in the reenactment and investigation of traffic accidents. Provides medical services and first aid procedures as necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent GED certificate, or equivalent experience. Ability to obtain Certified Arizona Peace Officer (POST) designation within six (6) months of employment. Must possess State of Arizona Driver's license, and clear criminal record. Police officer candidates must be a minimum of 21 years old at the time of graduation from the police academy. Any candidate must be a United States citizen. Candidates must demonstrate visual acuity of 20/20 or better, uncorrected; or 20/80 or better, corrected to 20/20 by spectacles or hard contact lenses; or 20/200 or better, corrected to 20/20 by soft contact lenses. Candidates must demonstrate satisfactory adaptation to the contacts; vision capable of distinguishing basic color groups against a favorable background; and peripheral vision that does not reveal scotoma or quadrantanopia; or in which vision perimeter testing is intact at one-hundred and seventy degrees. Candidates must possess uncorrected hearing with no loss greater than 25 dB in the 500, 1000, 2000, 3000 hertz frequencies as measured by a diometer. Candidates must not have been convicted of a felony or any offense that would be a felony if committed in Arizona. Candidates must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor criminal offense involving moral turpitude in Arizona or in any state or federal jurisdiction where the commission of such a criminal offense would be a misdemeanor as defined by the Arizona Revised Statutes. Candidates must not have been dishonorably discharged from the United States Armed Forces. Candidates must not have been previously denied certified status, had a certification revoked, or have current certified status under suspension pursuant to AZ POST Section R13-4-109. Candidates must not have used marijuana within the past three (3) years; used marijuana other than for experimentation (The use of marijuana is presumed to be greater than experimentation if the use exceeds twenty times total or exceeds five (5) times since the age of 21 years).
