Overview OpenGov is the leader in AI and ERP solutions for local and state governments in the U.S. OpenGov’s Public Service Platform is used by more than 2,000 cities, counties, state agencies, school districts, and special districts to operate efficiently and deliver value. This entry-level role focuses on prospecting, lead generation, and coordinating product demonstrations for Account Executives. The position offers hands-on training, mentorship, and clear pathways for advancement.
Responsibilities
Assess market trends and customer needs to identify new business opportunities in the public sector.
Become a product expert on OpenGov’s cloud-based platform for local, state, special districts, and non-profits.
Develop and execute prospecting strategies within the assigned territory to meet monthly quotas for scheduled demos and qualified opportunities.
Cultivate high-quality meetings using tools such as Salesforce, LinkedIn, and Outreach to generate inbound leads and establish credibility.
Create and execute strategies to expand business within designated prospect lists and jurisdictional categories.
Communicate the value OpenGov offers and establish credibility with potential clients.
Maintain a high volume of prospecting calls and emails, adapt to rapid changes, handle objections, and demonstrate product expertise.
Attend trade shows and events to promote offerings and generate leads.
Follow up with leads from conferences or events to maximize opportunities.
Actively manage and prioritize leads for qualification with input from marketing.
Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure effective lead generation and conversion strategies.
Requirements and Preferred Experience
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
0-2 years of experience in sales or a customer-facing role (internships, campus jobs, or similar).
Background in B2B, SaaS, finance, budgeting, and/or accounting is a plus.
Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM is a plus.
Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with G Suite and other business software.
Self-motivated, creative, results-oriented with a competitive drive and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
Interest in learning about the sales process, technology, and gov-tech industry.
Previous experience with cold calling, sales meetings, or sales training is a plus.
Passion for challenging the status quo and driving transformation in government.
Understanding of government sector challenges and opportunities.
Compensation and Benefits $50K – $65K base with a portion of variable compensation based on company and individual performance. Final compensation determined by qualifications, expertise, and location.
