Overview

Parsons is seeking a UXO Technician III to support reconnaissance, classification, and removal of unexploded ordnance (UXO) from affected communities. The role involves ensuring compliance with DoD and DDESB guidelines, supervising on-site MEC destruction, managing explosives storage, and contributing to risk analyses and safety processes. Responsibilities

Perform the duties of a UXO Technician III as outlined in DDESB TP 18. Meet the criteria for, and perform the functions of, a UXO-TI and UXO-TII. Ensure compliance with DoD Military Service- and/or DDESB-approved site plans. Supervise and perform on-site destruction or demilitarization of MEC in place or at a consolidated detonation site; determine when it is safe to initiate destruction and when engineering controls are required. Implement an explosives storage plan in accordance with applicable guidance. Prepare administrative reports required for munitions responses, operational range clearance activities, and similar operations. Develop and implement standard operating procedures and work plans for munitions responses and operational range clearance activities. Assist in the preparation of risk and hazard analyses. Conduct daily site safety briefings. Supervise MEC-related activities performed at a site. Determine if MDEH, not known or suspected to be UXO, is safe to ship and properly documented for transport over PTRs in accordance with Technical Bulletin 700-2, Naval Sea Systems Command Instruction 8020.8C, and Technical Order 11A-1-47. Package military munitions, commercial explosives, and MDEH that has been determined safe for transport over PTRs. Serve as the UXO team leader. Store explosive materials on-site in accordance with applicable guidance, including preparing holding areas to temporarily store and secure MEC or MPPEH. Determine and record the location of subsurface anomalies, surface MEC, and other material of interest in field environments. Perform field collection and testing procedures to identify explosives contaminated media or material. Inspect and document the explosives safety status of MPPEH. Supervise, as required, SWs, SP, and UXO-TIs. Investigate for and identify MEC and MPPEH, including explosive residues in media and structures. Identify different types of military munitions and assess whether a fuze is armed or unarmed. Excavate subsurface anomalies for identification and transport MEC within a munitions response site or on an operational range after risk evaluation. Operate vehicles moving explosives or MPPEH on site, with appropriate licensing. Transport munitions and explosives that are safe for transport over PTRs, complying with DOT and applicable laws and policies. Prepare electric and non-electric firing systems and set up decontamination stations for personnel and material. Document the explosives safety status of MPPEH and construct engineering controls as needed. Qualifications
