Fiber Technician
and help deploy high‑speed fiber solutions across the Midwest and Southeast. This full‑time role combines hands‑on installation skills with customer service and technical communication to deliver reliable services to residential and business customers. Responsibilities
Splice and terminate fiber optic cable according to company, governmental, and industry specifications. Maintain, test, and measure fiber optic signal strength using test equipment from street to house. Install telecommunications services by identifying and connecting correct cables at the vault/tap; install temporary drops and inside wiring; install fiber optic equipment at the customer premise; connect wireless devices and test service. Communicate independently and professionally with customers, outside technical staff, employees, supervisors, and managers. Operate hand tools, including drills, saws, and test equipment such as Optical Power Meters (OPM) and Volt‑Ohm Meters (VOM). Maintain vaults and taps as needed; report any maintenance required to supervisor. Travel to sites as necessary via company vehicle, complying with traffic laws, safety rules, regulations, and company practices. Access cable, pedestals, and other equipment by climbing ladders, entering crawl spaces or attics, walking through muddy areas or brush, and by digging. Maintain equipment, tools, and vehicles in working condition; submit time, mileage, gas tickets and material and equipment charge‑outs. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
High School graduate or General Education Diploma. Telecommunications (Fiber Optic, Telephone, CATV) experience preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and management. Valid driver’s license with a history of safe driving. Knowledge of current industry‑related terminology, procedures, and equipment preferred. Must work in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces; must tolerate environmental conditions in confined spaces. Must work from a ladder while using required hand tools. Additional Qualifications Desired
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings. Basic understanding of service order flow and process. IPTV/ADSL installation and repair experience. Understanding of RUS and company construction standards and specifications. Basic computer knowledge. Basic electricity knowledge. Benefits
