About the opportunity The Preop PACU Technician position serves to provide technical and supportive care to patients in the preoperative and post-anesthesia care units. The tech assists nursing staff in preparing patients for surgery, monitoring patients pre- and postoperatively, maintaining a clean and safe environment, transporting patients, and ensuring the availability of equipment and supplies. The role supports smooth workflow and enhances patient safety, comfort, and efficiency in perioperative care. The Preop PACU tech is the first point of contact for the patient and will work closely with the patients, their families, the care team, and leadership in order to address all needs and concerns.
What you will do
Guides patients and families throughout the surgical experience while using AIDET in all interactions.
Responsible for the coordination of the daily patient flow and schedule in order to optimize care, safety, and satisfaction-includes preparing and cleaning rooms.
Assists with and performs patient care including collection of patient information, accurate reading and documentation of vital signs. Continually improve outcomes and experiences by addressing needs patient needs in a proactive manner by completing hourly rounding and other duties as assigned.
Demonstrates the ability to work with all providers and nursing staff by accurately receiving and implementing instructions and orders.
Demonstrates clinical knowledge in all patient types and age groups to meet patient care needs/outcomes within unit. Displays cultural competency and ability to work diverse patient populations.
Transport of patient and families to all areas in the perioperative area, to and from the waiting room, and to other units in the hospital.
Continually improve outcomes and experiences by addressing needs patient needs in a proactive manner by completing hourly rounding and other duties as assigned.
Prepare patients for surgery as directed, including, but not limited, to obtaining vital signs, prepping surgical site, intravascular access, blood specimen collection, patient transport, and other duties as assigned.
Assist with Pre-operative unit care and Post Anesthesia Care Unit care as allowed by qualifications and training.
What you will need Experience
One year of experience as a care tech, preferred
License(s) and Certification(s)
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
One of the following is preferred:
Certification in the state of Colorado as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Certification in the state of Colorado as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologist (AMT)
National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcare Association
Medical Assistant Certification (MAC) by American Medical Certification Association
