OceanX is seeking an Agentic AI Specialist to guide the strategic application and responsible development of agentic AI systems across our mission-driven initiatives. This individual will lead our exploration of next-generation artificial intelligence solutions with a focus on intelligent agents capable of autonomous decision-making, adaptive learning, and long-term task execution in dynamic, real-world environments.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, thought leadership, and a collaborative mindset to help OceanX understand and deploy agentic AI in a way that enhances our impact in ocean exploration, science, education, and media. The Agentic AI Specialist will work cross-functionally with product, engineering, education, science, and media teams to identify use cases, prototype solutions, and ensure ethical and operational alignment.

Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as OceanX’s in-house expert on agentic AI, including autonomous agents, multi-agent systems, and LLM-powered tools
Research, evaluate, and recommend technologies and frameworks that support the development and integration of agentic AI systems
Design and prototype agentic AI systems that can support or extend our operations in science missions, education programming, and creative content generation
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to identify practical use cases for AI agents, including data analysis, knowledge management, education, logistics, and media production
Establish responsible development frameworks and guardrails to ensure AI systems are aligned with ethical, legal, and operational standards
Monitor emerging trends in AI safety, interpretability, and autonomy to keep OceanX at the forefront of the field
Represent OceanX in AI and technology partnerships, consortiums, and external forums as needed
Qualifications
Professional Experience:
2+ years of hands-on experience in agentic AI or autonomous systems, within a broader background of AI/ML research, software engineering, or a related technical field
Deep understanding of LLMs, reinforcement learning, and related AI paradigms (e.g., AutoGPT, LangChain, or similar frameworks)
Demonstrated experience designing or deploying AI agents in production or advanced research settings
Strong familiarity with current debates and best practices around AI ethics, safety, and responsible development
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical applications for non-technical stakeholders
Experience working in interdisciplinary environments or mission-driven organizations is a plus
