Specialist, Infrastructure Eng (PostgreSQL Database Administrator)

We are seeking a skilled and motivated **PostgreSQL Database Administrator** with hands-on experience in **Amazon Web Services (AWS)** to join our growing data infrastructure team. As a mid-level DBA, you will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and securing our PostgreSQL databases while leveraging AWS services to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.* 3–5 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in a production environment.* Strong experience with AWS services, especially RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, EC2, S3, and IAM.* Proficiency in SQL and PostgreSQL-specific features (e.g., JSONB, partitioning, extensions like PostGIS or pg\_stat\_statements).* Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus).* Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation.* Understanding of database security, compliance, and disaster recovery planning.* AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty or Solutions Architect).* Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.* Familiarity with containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).* Exposure to other database technologies (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis) is a plus.* Creates and implements standard builds/templates for all technology platforms.* Drives requirements to meet current and future needs, tracks and reports capacity postures.* Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.* Analyzes reports and delivery recommendations to remediate capacity issues.* Implements capacity enhancements.* Designs standard and custom technology solutions for business partner projects, including pre-production testing, performance tuning, handoffs and certification.* Delivers technology/product optimization, migrations and management, including technology/product design, planning, power and environmental management.* Collaborates with others to develop meaningful metrics that drive fact-based decisions on a given product/environment/solution.* Conducts proactive system maintenance, disaster recovery planning, data backup and recovery as well as inventory, configuration and utility product management.* Executes production engineering processes, incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, change management, release management and knowledge management.* Provides production support for all technology platforms.* Provides oversight for technical labs and development environments.**Experience:** Four years of experience with moderately complex integrated solutions and an ability to develop and modify existing solutions for specialized needs. Experience with automation of solution configurations deployment and with system management processes and tools.
