Supervisory Responsibilities: None Summary: This position is designed for associates who have recently completed an undergraduate degree or associates with some banking experience. It offers a comprehensive training program that provides exposure to credit analysis and sales development. The Associate Business Banker will work with the Business Banking team to review Small Business loan applications, complete credit analysis, monitor lending portfolio, identify lending opportunities, and develop knowledge of Business lending products including SBA loans. They will understand SBA program requirements and be able to present credit structure, collateral, and financial information. The role also focuses on developing essential sales skills and communication with Business clients to meet banking needs. There is an opportunity to choose a career path in credit or in sales. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide the highest level of quality service to the Business Bankers and Retail Relationship Managers. Review loan applications, communicate deficiencies in a friendly, positive, and professional manner where turnaround time is essential. Compile, examine and evaluate the financial viability of a credit request; analyze financial statements and submit data into the Credit Quest Scoring System. Analyze commercial and industrial credits, SBA loan opportunities, and commercial real estate properties. Establish rapport with the Business Bankers, Retail Relationship Managers, and Business Banking AAs. Understand credit and advise on how to enhance credit structure. Develop understanding and proficiency of SBA loan products; gather and submit SBA documentation and work with SBA personnel. Identify opportunities to expand Bank/Client relationships. Prepare analysis and loan packages for loans submitted to the U.S. Small Business Administration when appropriate. Prepare monthly/quarterly reports for Senior Management and Board of Directors; may include small business loan exceptions and portfolio data. Monitor technical exceptions in the Small Business loan portfolio and provide monthly exception reports as directed. Attend seminars and educational opportunities to stay informed on changes, offerings, and best practices in Business and SBA lending. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Basic understanding of accounting procedures. Strong working knowledge of PCs and software (Microsoft Excel, Word, CSI, and Loan Scoring Systems such as Credit Quest). Limited travel may be required. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in accounting or finance preferred. Will consider equivalent experience in accounting/finance or credit analysis knowledge with another financial institution if no degree. 6 months to 2 years of professional experience. What do I do now?
