Senior Executive Recruiter at Headfarmer, LLC The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate accounting, strong internal controls, and compliance with GAAP. This position is responsible for overseeing daily accounting functions, preparing financial statements, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and supporting project accounting and job cost reporting. The ideal candidate has strong construction accounting experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments.

Base Pay Range $110,000 – $130,000 per year.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Controller in overseeing all aspects of the accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.

Manage the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

Support job cost accounting processes, including tracking project budgets, costs, and profitability.

Review and analyze work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and project billing reports.

Assist in preparing consolidated financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and variance analyses.

Maintain compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and industry regulations.

Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to provide financial insight into project performance.

Support external audits, annual reviews, and banking compliance requirements.

Supervise and mentor accounting staff to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and professional growth.

Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls and reporting efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

6–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in construction or a related industry.

Strong understanding of job cost accounting, percentage-of-completion (POC), and WIP reporting.

Experience with construction accounting software such as Viewpoint or Sage 300.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
