JOB DESCRIPTION: Kids Ministry Director/Pastor
Principal Function:
This position is responsible for the leadership and care of Northlake Kids (Birth—5th Grade). This includes the children in that age range, their parents/caregivers, and the volunteers who serve in this ministry area. At the discretion of the Senior Pastor, this position also provides pastoral support for the overall vision and direction of the church. Status:

Maintain a love for the Lord Jesus Christ above all else Maintain a love for, study, and proclamation of sound doctrine. Maintain the energy, expectation, and execution of the job responsibilities. Maintain a life of integrity and commitment, and focus on fulfilling God’s calling. Maintain a vibrant, personal disciple-making walk with Jesus Christ. Maintain a consistent prayer life. Model discipleship, stewardship, service, and sacrifice. Follow the leadership of the Senior Pastor. Education
Completed 4-year bachelor’s degree Preferred completed seminary master’s degree Pastoral Care
Provides pastoral care for children and their families and Northlake Kids volunteers. Directs and works closely with Northlake Kids volunteers, developing healthy accountability and setting goals for the implementation and development of programming for the spiritual formation of children and equipping parents to fulfill their calling as the primary spiritual leaders of their children. Builds and commits to solid relationships with regular opportunities for them to connect with God and others. Works closely with the Senior Pastor to develop a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children and families. Develops and maintains relationships with Kids’ Pastors/Ministers outside Northlake to broaden perspective and gain from their experiences. Ensures clear ongoing communication to church staff, children, parents, volunteers, and related ministries within Northlake regarding children’s activities. Recruits, schedules, develops, and oversees a strategic team of volunteers working together to achieve the ministry goals and execute successful weekend services. Plans and executes the necessary training for all Northlake Kids volunteers and paid workers through proper teaching techniques, liability issues, and other required safety and security policies and procedures. Ensures all guidelines outlined in the Church Operations Manual, Constitution, and By-Laws are followed. Provides effective connections to ministry families and new visiting families. Creates a healthy environment for children to grow in their faith and partners with families to engage them meaningfully. Provides interactive lessons based on God’s Word to introduce children to Jesus Christ and Biblical concepts through integrated worship, crafts, activities, etc. Sets specific, measurable goals to ensure that the ministry's vision and purpose are being achieved (collaborating with the Senior Pastor). Tracks and reports measures of ministry growth and development. Manages resources and supplies for curriculum, classroom necessities, and informational materials for families and guests. Prepares weekly curriculum supplies and ensures teachers have all midweek and weekend service materials. Organizes and maintains the Northlake Kids resource room and storage areas. Tracks ministry resources and procures necessary supplies. Attends all ministry meetings and training. Ministry Events
Plans and executes all aspects of Children’s Ministry events, including but not limited to On-Campus Groups, Children’s Worship, Kids’ Camp, VBS, Spring and Fall Family Fun Fests, Easter, and Christmas activities. Tracks, analyzes, and reports measures of event success. Administration
Works with other ministries of Northlake using clear communication and a position of unity. Completes necessary supervisory functions such as interviews, evaluations, and background checks. Maintains an up-to-date policy manual for all Northlake Kids programming and events. Utilizes church management software to maintain data integrity and carry out ministry tasks. Answers questions and concerns that may arise with professionalism and knowledge of Northlake’s servant culture. Maintains a high priority to keep individual, material, correspondence, and related church business and information confidential. Participates in an annual review and assessment with the Senior Pastor. If a Biblically-Qualified and ordained male is hired for this position, his title could be changed to Kids Ministry Pastor. If such a change is made, he would have other pastoral responsibilities given to him, including but not limited to preaching in the absence or at the request of the Senior Pastor and being involved in Pastor-level decision-making.
