are responsible for providing group and individual sessions and related rehabilitative treatment services to substance abuse students in a residential setting. This includes direct services and rehabilitative treatment in a therapeutic community setting. Location: Downtown Los Angeles, CA. On-site position (TEMPORARY)
Non-Exempt Position (Hourly) What You Will Do: Lead and participate in group, individual, and therapeutic processes under supervision of a certified behavioral health professional. Serve as a student advocate. Participate in faculty staffing. Interact with students' families, attorneys, probation/parole officers, and other relevant agencies. Observe, record, and evaluate changes in students' appearance, behavior, and demeanor. Assess emergencies and take appropriate action. Evaluate comprehensive social, legal, and personal histories of students. Maintain accurate and timely records of students' sensitive information. Collaborate with students to determine short- and long-term goals and treatment plans. Attend in-service training, workshops, and conferences. Prepare reports as assigned. May appear in court as needed. Protect students' health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records. Coordinate student activities within the program through participation and demonstration. Provide training and guidance, acting as a role model to students and teaching good work habits. Assist in supervising interns and volunteers. Participate in community-building activities as appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned. What You Will Bring: Registered or Certified AOD/SUDT from an accredited certifying body. Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field and at least one year of experience in a substance abuse or behavioral health treatment facility. OR High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D., with a combination of behavioral health education and at least two years of relevant work experience. Knowledge of therapeutic community processes, methods, and design, including small-group dynamics. Ability to relate well to students and supervise faculty. Understanding of human emotions. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressure related to working with substance abuse students. Proper attitudes and techniques for working with residential students. Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse. What We Offer: Medical, Dental, Vision insurance.
