Responsibilities

Conduct in-depth research on individuals and organizations to evaluate connections, interests, and potential contributions to the University.

Generate detailed profiles for major gift officers and university leaders.

Manage prospecting tools, identify new donor prospects, update the database, and prepare research for events and campaigns.

Assist in training research staff and interns.

Essential Functions

Compile and analyze detailed biographical and other publicly available information on individuals and organizations to determine prospects’ relationships with the University, interests, and giving capacity.

Prepare and update written profiles on potential individual, corporate, and foundation prospects for major gift officers, the President of the University, and the Vice President for University Relations.

Manage and review daily periodicals, lists alerts, and other resources or prospecting resources.

Proactively prospect for new donors and determine their giving capacity.

Update prospect database regularly.

Prepare specialized research for event and campaign purposes.

Additional Functions Assist in training new research staff and manage and train student interns.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year of experience in prospect research or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficiency in the use of personal computers and MS and Google Office suites.

Facility with standard prospect research tools: business directories, online databases, and Internet resources and programs.

Strategic and creative thinker with excellent prioritization and multi-tasking skills.

Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with different audiences, including researchers, fundraisers, and senior-level administration.

Ability to effectively synthesize information from a variety of sources into an organized format.

Accuracy and attention to detail.

Excellent writing skills and thorough research skills.

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential material in a discreet and ethical manner.

Salary Minimum starting salary $65,000. Maximum starting salary $70,000. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
