Project Accountant – Construction WIP & Job Costing — Draper, UT (On-Site) | Full-Time | $60,000–$70,000 DOE + Benefits
Step into a role that directly impacts project success. We’re seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant who can manage WIP, analyze job costs, and provide actionable financial insights to project managers and leadership.
Responsibilities
Prepare and manage WIP schedules, retainage, and monthly revenue recognition entries across multiple entities
Maintain accurate and timely project accounting records in NetSuite and field service software
Analyze job costs, labor, material, and subcontractor expenses, providing actionable insights to project managers
Collaborate with project managers to forecast project profitability and identify financial risks
Compile financial data into reports for weekly communication with construction teams and leadership
Support internal controls, audit readiness, and multi-entity accounting processes
What You’ll Be Doing
Initially work within the current ERP system (QuickBooks) with a planned transition to NetSuite over the next year
Candidate with prior ERP implementation or system transition experience is encouraged to apply
What We’re Looking For
2–4 years of project accounting experience in construction or contracting, with strong WIP and job costing knowledge
Hands-on experience with NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems; experience with field service software (ServiceTitan or similar) is a plus
Knowledge of GAAP, WIP accounting, revenue recognition, retainage, and multi-entity structures
Strong Microsoft Excel skills for building, analyzing, and automating WIP and job cost reports
Ability to quickly learn new ERP and accounting systems
Experience collaborating with project managers and mentoring accounting staff (preferred)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required); Information Systems or related field a plus
Analytical mindset with the ability to dig into details, ask “why,” and drive process improvements
