Position Summary The Department of Government, Law & Policy at Arkansas State University is seeking applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Public Administration, set to commence in Fall 2026. The candidate must possess a PhD in Public Administration or Political Science. Candidates who are advanced ABDs will also be considered, provided they obtain their PhD by July 2026. While the position does not require a particular area of specialization within Public Administration, candidates whose research and teaching interests align with Human Resource Management and Local Government Administration are highly encouraged to apply. Additionally, candidates with a strong interest in teaching upper division electives in our B.A. program in political science will be given preference.
Requirements: (1) A statement of purpose indicating research and teaching interests and credentials, (2) Curriculum Vitae, (3) Evidence of teaching ability, (4) A Writing sample (a peer reviewed article that was recently published or dissertation chapter will suffice,) and (5) A list of three academic references that will be contacted by the search committee if short-listed. All items listed as requirements must be submitted for your file to be considered complete.
Review of applications will begin on 11/4/25. Arkansas State University is a comprehensive Carnegie classified R2 public research university located approximately seventy miles northwest of Memphis. The department offers a well-rounded curriculum to its one hundred majors in the BA program in political science. The department also offers a NASPAA-accredited online MPA program.
Duties & Responsibilities
The teaching load of the faculty is in alignment with a Carnegie-classified R2 institution. Faculty workload also includes research, creative activity, service, and professional development in the best interest of the students and the university community at large.
