The Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Keuka College is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach MAT102 – College Algebra. This course is part of the College’s general education program and is also foundational for upper-level mathematics courses required by certain majors. Given the central importance of this course to our campus community, high-quality teaching is imperative, and we seek enthusiastic faculty who value and enjoy working closely with our student population. Instructors are needed to teach during the day, possibly in the evening hours. Keuka College has a strong commitment to principles of diversity and encourages applications from groups underrepresented in higher education. Teach MAT 102 – College Algebra, which consists of 3 contact hours per week per section, plus office hours, course preparation, and student assessment. Work closely with current math faculty to ensure quality and consistency among all sections and instructors. Plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus, goals, and objectives. Follow the outline provided to ensure course content and objectives are met. Design, administer, and grade course assignments and exams to assess the achievement of course objectives as identified in the syllabus. Provide clear documentation of student progress through regular feedback, academic alerts, and midterm progress reports as necessary. Create a classroom environment that actively engages students and is conducive to learning. Plan effectively for classes and student success. Maintain regular office hours to meet one-on-one with students. Adhere to college policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities

Teach MAT 102 – College Algebra, which consists of 3 contact hours per week per section, plus office hours, course preparation, and student assessment. Work closely with current math faculty to ensure quality and consistency among all sections and instructors. Plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus, goals, and objectives. Follow the outline provided to ensure course content and objectives are met. Physical Requirements

Some evening hours and occasional weekends. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

A master’s degree in mathematics or a closely related field is required. Professional or teaching experience in mathematics is required. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to the needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff, and the public. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
