Research Governance Coordinator
The closing date is 29 October 2025 This position at the Trust will support the Research Governance Manager as we look to improve and expand our quality assurance around the approval and delivery of research projects as well as our audit delivery and safety reporting for research projects. The role will be essential for implementing the Trust's research strategy. This role will include coordinating approval of research activity across the Trust, liaising with research management, other organisations and supporting staff, public, service users and carers engaged in research. In addition, a function post is to assist in the delivery of a safe, efficient and timely Research Governance for the Trust by promoting and facilitating the setup and delivery of high-quality research activity within the Trust, and ensure that all such research is conducted in full compliance with the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research, and other relevant regulation. The governance oversight of the Trust NIHR portfolio studies and its non-portfolio studies will be a major function of this post and the post-holder will assist in the, co-ordination, auditing and monitoring of all aspects of research. This will include assisting in recording and reporting the Trust's performance in meeting local, regional and national performance targets. The post holder will be a versatile and dynamic individual with excellent interpersonal skills who will be required to work with a range of services across BDCFT (both clinical and non-clinical), alongside partner academic and NHS Trust organisations. Good Clinical Practice training Evidence of on-going professional development Research document management training to include, but not limited to: Archiving, Capacity & Capability, audit and monitoring of research. SystmOne training EXPERIENCE
Experience working in a NHS research environment. Collection and/or extraction of data from NHS IT systems, especially electronic patient record systems. Supporting others in the use and development of IT Data systems. Proven ability and experience to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of working cross departmentally to promote and/or deliver evidence-based practice. Development of training/materials for use by teams in understanding/operating data systems. Experience of clinical research data management system eg. EDGE Experience of working with mental health service users. KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of current scientific, regulatory and ethical frameworks defining research management activity. Awareness of the processes of research governance as described by the relevant regulations eg; o Medicines for Human Use Act o UK Policy Framework for Health & Social Care Research o Good Clinical Practice o Clinical Trial Regulations o Data Protection Must have an awareness of Health and Safety at work and how it relates to this role. Knowledge and understanding of patient/client implications of research. Such as informed consent and right to withdraw. Knowledge of legislation regarding safety reporting and pharmacovigilance. The processes associated with indemnities regarding staff working on research projects within the NHS, including the Research Passport Scheme Understanding of NIHR/CRN research performance metrics. Ability to negotiate and work collaboratively with service users, Trust staff and partner organisations in order to achieve agreed internal/external research targets.. Able to plan, organise and complete multiple projects simultaneously to meet tight deadlines. Ability to assess & maintain complex sets of documents against research governance requirements, with attention to cross referencing of details Have good problem-solving skills in order to resolve find solutions to issues arising for the running of research projects and in particular clinical studies in the short, medium and longer term. Excellent Computer skills to include: - o Use of MS applications o Development, application and interrogation of databases o Use of electronic patient records o Data processing and display Integration of data from various sources into a single document format Teaching and facilitation skills.
