Job Description Family Star Montessori in Denver, CO is seeking a full‑time Bilingual (English/Spanish) Parent Educator for its Home Base program. A Parent Educator provides information, support, and encouragement to parents and pregnant women to help their child develop optimally during the early years of life. Through home visits, group meetings, screenings & assessments, and linkages to resources, the Parent Educator works as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive services. The role requires traveling throughout Metro Denver in a personal vehicle.
Major Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Act, Parents As Teachers (PAT), Maternal Infant Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV), and agency policies.
Establish, maintain, and foster warm, respectful, and professional relationships with families.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
Work independently, manage a caseload of up to 12 families, and remain accountable to program outcomes.
Support the Recruitment & Enrollment Coordinator to keep the Home Base program fully enrolled.
Partner with families through weekly 90‑minute home visits, prepare Parent As Teachers lesson planning guides, facilitate parent‑child interactions, support monthly meetings, organize events, and document all activities.
Prepare child and family lesson planning guides and visit reports each week, establishing goals and objectives collaboratively with parents.
Maintain thorough, ongoing communication with parents, supervisor, and Family Star staff.
Implement the Parents As Teachers curriculum for home‑based families and conduct or plan monthly parent meetings.
Provide parent education and comprehensive Early Head Start services including health, education, family services, disabilities, and shared governance.
Assist parents in creating a safe, healthy learning environment that is developmentally appropriate and parent‑led.
Work collaboratively with other Parent Educators, Family Star staff, parents, and committee members to meet individual child, parent, and program needs.
Develop a Family Partnership plan with goal setting based on identified needs and strengths.
Strengthen families by building partnerships that connect parents to community resources and foster engagement.
Complete all required documentation, reporting, and tracking promptly and comprehensively.
Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and flexibility within a fast‑growing, fast‑paced environment.
Participate effectively as a team member through communication, cooperation, and problem‑solving.
Provide crisis intervention (child abuse reporting, domestic violence support, postpartum depression support).
Operate with a trauma‑informed lens and engage in reflective consultation.
Participate in required in‑service trainings, ongoing professional development, and meetings related to home visitation services.
Speak and write English fluently.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Home‑based CDA credential or comparable credential or equivalent coursework as part of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
1–2 years case‑management experience with children ages 0‑6 and their families.
One year of experience working with adults from diverse populations.
Maintain current Parent Educator certification with required professional development hours.
Complete the Parents As Foundational Curriculum Training and certification.
Relevant Montessori training experience.
Motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
Positive attitude with a commitment to customer service.
Infant/Child CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions certifications obtained within the initial review period.
Valid driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
Clearance from a background check, post‑offer, pre‑employment physical, and TB test.
