Senior HB Coder - Remote at LCMC Health Position details: Remote coding role focusing on ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, MS-DRG/APR-DRG assignments for inpatient and ambulatory records across multiple specialties. The Coding Senior may perform functions of a Coding Specialist I as assigned. Responsibilities

Proficiently navigates patient health records and other systems to accurately determine diagnosis and procedure codes, MS-DRGs/APCs, and all required modifiers. Validate charges by comparing charges with health record documentation as necessary. Communicate effectively with clinical staff, physicians, and other stakeholders regarding documentation needs related to inpatient, outpatient, or ambulatory coding. Identify concerns and notify leadership for resolution; provide resolutions to moderate to complex problems. Track issues (missing documentation, charges, physician queries) requiring follow-up to facilitate timely coding. Meet or exceed coding quality and productivity standards established by the coding department. Adhere to confidentiality requirements and maintain knowledge of coding and reimbursement guidelines and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned by leadership. Maintain working knowledge of applicable coding and reimbursement laws, regulations, ethics, and policies. Must-Haves / Qualifications

Education/Experience: Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 3 years of work experience; or Associate’s degree with 1 year of experience; or Diploma/Certification in Coding with 1 year of experience. Preferred: Associate's Degree in HIM or AHIMA/AAPC coding program completion. Licenses and Certifications (preferred): RHIT or RHIA or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) from AHIMA/CCHIIM. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, coding (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS), MS-DRG/APC/PDMS concepts, and PDPs. Understanding of third-party reimbursement regulations, billing practices, and PPS methodology for inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory and provider-based settings. Experience with encoding software and Windows-based computer systems. Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and managerial staff; ability to adapt to change and prioritize effectively. Work Shift
