Job Overview
Sequoyah Middle School is seeking a
Math Teacher
for 6th grade (2025-2026) in DeKalb County School District. The teacher will implement best practices to increase student achievement, collaborate with team members, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
Teach grade‑relevant, subject‑matter specific, and mandated curriculum.
Develop and implement lesson plans and activities through in‑person and virtual learning, providing written evidence of preparation.
Communicate by phone, email, or video conferencing during regular working hours.
Create an in‑person and virtual classroom environment conducive to learning.
Use internet and web‑based technology to provide instruction and collaborate with students.
Assess, document, and prepare reports such as achievement progress, grades, and attendance.
Supervise and manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
Participate in student development and achievement conferences with parents, students, counselors, teachers, and administrators.
Perform general instruction duties such as ordering materials, attending meetings, and attending professional learning sessions/training.
Direct the work of the paraprofessional or instructional aide.
Maintain prompt and regular work attendance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant educational field from a Georgia PSC‑approved accredited college or university.
Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved teaching certificate in the appropriate educational field.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in virtual instruction preferred.
Salary Grade Grade: E
