Pay: Competitive hourly rate based on location, ranging from $20.00/hr in Birmingham, AL to $32.00/hr in Oakland, CA.

POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS The Armed Security Guard is responsible for providing essential, high-level armed security services at an assigned U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) government facility. This role involves maintaining a visible presence, controlling access, screening visitors, and responding to incidents in strict compliance with federal contract requirements and Agency Security Classification (ASC) procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities Perform continuous access control duties, including screening visitors and personnel using walk-through magnetometers and hand-held detection wands. Conduct regular facility checks, monitor surveillance systems, and ensure the overall security and integrity of the assigned USCIS site. Respond promptly and appropriately to all security incidents, emergencies, and alarms according to established post orders and emergency response plans. Accurately and thoroughly document all activities, incidents, and security breaches in daily and incident reports. Provide professional and courteous service while enforcing security protocols for all agency personnel and visitors. Maintain proficiency in the proper setup, calibration, and operation of all assigned security equipment, including screening devices. Ensure personal compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and all site-specific Post Orders. Work effectively with the assigned partner guard and communicate clearly with the designated Regional Security Manager regarding any operational or personnel issues.
Required Education, Certifications, Licenses, and Experience Minimum of two (2) years of armed security experience from a military, law enforcement, or commercial armed guard background. Legally own and possess a registered approved 9mm semi-automatic pistol or .45 ACP handgun. Active State Security Guard License for the assigned post state. Active State Firearms License (or equivalent permit/qualification) for the assigned post state. Current firearm qualifications, first-aid/CPR certifications, and annual use-of-force and de-escalation training consistent with federal, state, and local requirements. Experience in operation, calibration, and maintenance of walk-through metal detectors (magnetometers) and hand-held detection wands. Physical ability to stand and patrol for extended periods and perform duties requiring physical exertion in response to security incidents. Successful completion of USCIS Office of Security and Integrity (OSI) suitability screening and background checks prior to assignment. Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and interaction with the public. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the assigned site.
Work Environment Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
Physical Requirements Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach during shifts. May occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
