Overview

Intervention Specialist role at Oakmont Education. The Intervention Specialist is responsible for all aspects of Special Education services and compliance and may provide additional intervention to students not identified for Special Education services as needed. The Intervention Specialist must stay up to date on laws pertaining to special education and ensure that students identified with a disability have equal learning opportunities. Responsibilities

Lead the response to Intervention process and coordinate IEPs, ensuring goals and provisions are followed. Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and administrators to facilitate the IEP process. Maintain Individual Educational Programs (IEPs) and student records accurately and efficiently. Create and manage a supportive learning environment conducive to children’s learning. Develop and implement standards-based curriculum and assessments; deliver instruction and supervision; guide student development and safety. Collaborate with the classroom teacher to align instruction with the school’s course of study and data-driven instructional decisions. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and utilize multiple strategies and technology to engage students. Provide specialized instruction to students with special needs in various settings as per IEPs and SPs. Ensure high standards of achievement and maintain an orderly, aspirational school culture. Prepare and submit IEP progress reports on a quarterly basis or as required. Keep accurate records such as grade books, lesson plans, attendance, and behavior/discipline records; protect student privacy. Collaborate with staff to improve student learning and achievement; participate in policy and program development; and engage in ongoing professional development. Qualifications, Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Current Ohio Department of Education License as an Intervention Specialist required; Highly Qualified Teacher status in teaching assignment preferred. 1–2 years’ experience working with students with disabilities is preferable. Current BCI/FBI background check and compliance with Ohio Administrative Code Rule 3301-20-01. Proficiency in the use of technology; strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment; willingness to go above and beyond to support students. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment. The employee may deal with students with behavioral risks and may occasionally need to restrain students. Attendance at meetings outside regular hours may be required. The role involves managing responsibilities, following laws and regulations, and maintaining effective communication with staff, students, and parents. Physical Requirements

Physical demands include some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Reasonable accommodations can be provided for qualified disabilities when no undue hardship is created. Supervision and Reporting
