Collaborate with the Medical Director of the Henry Ford Health Center for Vision Rehabilitation to enhance safety, independence, and quality of life for individuals with vision impairment through world-class low vision care. Report directly to the Chair, Department of Ophthalmology and Eye Care Services. Responsibilities:
Manage comprehensive low vision cases and provide consultations. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including occupational therapists, agencies for the blind and visually impaired, orientation and mobility specialists, social workers, and certified driving rehabilitation specialists. Perform specialty contact lens fitting to maximize visual function if necessary. Assist in maintaining proper staffing and coverage within the clinic. Complete Michigan Optometric Low Vision Certification and pursue American Academy of Optometry Fellowship for professional growth. Ensure compliance with continuing education requirements for licensure in Michigan. Support staff training and practice development programs. Develop relationships within and outside of HFH. Attend scheduled meetings and act as a role model for staff. Practice and promote high standards of professional care. Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited optometry program. Previous direct patient care experience, with low vision rehabilitation experience preferred. Licensed as an Optometrist in Michigan. Core Patient Care & Customer Service:
Meet or exceed standards outlined in the HFH Customer Service Policy, including communication ownership, understanding motivation, sensitivity, teamwork, and respect. Practice exceptional patient care and customer service skills. Personal Qualities:
