Responsibilities

Coaches individual participants in basic and advanced skills necessary for maximum individual achievement in the applicable sport. Provides leadership to athletic team. Teaches, monitors and enforces appropriate standards of discipline and sportsmanlike behavior. Monitors adherence by athletes to the rules and regulations of the MIAA. Follows the Coaches Responsibilities and Expectations (adapted from MIAA Sportsmanship Manual). Assists the Athletic Director in planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in-season and adhering to the schedule set by the Athletic Director. Keeps up to date with any necessary training for the assigned sport. Attends regular coach meetings organized by the Athletic Director/Assistant Principal to discuss student eligibility, practice schedules, locations, documentation, equipment needs, and general concerns. Creates an environment where students are supported and encouraged to participate in the athletics program. Adheres to practice schedules, student practice rules and medical compliance as required by the league. Upholds standards and rules of the athletic program, especially safety rules. Sets appropriate boundaries for students based on school rules and models positive behavior and fair play. Instructs students in the proper use of equipment and sets up equipment for practice and games. Notifies Athletic Director of any equipment misuse and needs for replacement. Completes all necessary documentation for participation and ensures deadlines are met; assists in planning and executing year-end awards party as needed. Attends all necessary meetings related to the Athletics Program. Keeps Athletic Director informed of games, practices, and any issues or concerns related to the assigned sport. Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required. Previous related work experience with children in an education setting may substitute for the education requirement. Previous coaching experience in a similar sport strongly preferred. Teaching and coaching techniques appropriate to the sport assigned. Current Certification in First Aid, CPR, AED and Concussion; training required. Must be available to attend activities, practices and meetings outside of school hours as necessary. Certification as required by MIAA. Dependable and reliable with strong communication skills, both written and spoken. Ability to relate well to others. How to Apply
