Overview
Technical Agronomist - Emerging Talent Program at Nutrien. This position is on-site and located primarily at Nutrien Ag Solutions’ Winterville, MS innovation farm, with periodic work at nearby Nutrien Ag Solutions retail branches. The Emerging Talent Program (ETP) is a two-year development program for early career professionals. The program provides experience in agronomics and retail operations, with opportunities to collaborate with seasoned agronomists, plant breeders, and farm staff, and to participate in development with a peer group across North America. What You Will Do
Assist the Farm Supervisor and Innovation Farm Staff in planning, implementing, and data collection of field trials and demonstrations. Organize and facilitate field days, grower meetings, post-harvest meetings, training, etc. Manage and compile data including plot data, seed matrix, etc. to field in Marketing format. Evaluate products by building product knowledge, sharing local observations with the product development team, and acting as the expert on Dyna-Gro products. Coordinate third-party testing and assist in product selection for yield and demo plots. Strengthen customer engagement by incorporating profitable and sustainable initiatives. Collaborate with Regional Agronomy Managers, Precision Ag Lead, Seeds Agronomist, and Loveland Sales Managers to implement trials and learnings for the local sales force. Collaborate with Division leadership and Crop Consultants to understand challenges and issues in sales support of agricultural inputs and customer interactions. Perform branch-level duties during branch rotations, including delivery, warehousing, sales, soil sampling, crop scouting, and other operations. Participate in Emerging Talent Program seminars and development activities. Model safety as a core value by contributing to a safe work environment. What You Will Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Soils, Ag Business, Biology, or other science-related field. Experience in the agriculture industry with understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures; experience with agricultural chemicals and agronomy planning is preferred. Certified Crop Advisor or ability to become certified is preferred. Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. Ability to operate heavy equipment, lift up to 50 lbs, and tolerate harsh climate conditions as needed. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Additional Information
