Job Description The main function of this position is to provide a reasonably safe and secure environment for our patients, visitors, volunteers, staff, and employees. To assist and support the Safety/Security/Emergency Management and Parking management programs.
Responsibilities
Patrol hospital property and/or facilities to ensure safety and security, following department post orders and policies. Cooperate with co-workers and staff, maintaining professionalism and courtesy.
Conduct inspections and document potential hazards, investigate as needed, and submit safety or operational requests.
Enforce hospital policies, procedures, and regulations, including court appearances if necessary.
Investigate and document reports of criminal or unusual activity, incidents, and policy violations, completing incident reports clearly and professionally.
Respond to alarms, determine their source, and take appropriate action to normalize situations.
Respond to panic alarms promptly.
Contain incidents such as fires as necessary.
Control traffic during emergencies to allow access for emergency services.
Ensure patient care continues with minimal interruption.
Return alarm systems to normal after incidents.
Manage traffic and parking, enforce regulations, and handle violations according to hospital policy.
Operate and monitor security, fire, and other safety systems proficiently.
Perform inspections of safety and security systems, including monthly checks of fire extinguishers and security systems.
Escort personnel and visitors for safety purposes upon request.
Perform additional duties assigned by management, such as unlocking doors, handling lost property, assisting with radioactive materials, and other safety-related tasks.
Qualifications Knowledge and Skills:
Good communication skills and ability to interact effectively with the public.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent; Private Police Training or similar preferred.
Experience:
Previous security experience preferred.
Licenses & Certifications:
Valid driver’s license with appropriate endorsements.
