Overview

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Vice President (VP) of Finance & Administration provides leadership for the organization’s financial management, regulatory compliance, and human resources functions while driving system improvements to enhance efficiency and accountability. This role supervises internal staff and manages outsourced financial and HR services. The position ensures compliance across financial operations, grant reporting, and employment practices, including payroll, benefits, and labor law requirements. In addition, the position leads the annual budget process, monitors financial performance, and partners with the CEO and Finance Committee to provide insights that support organizational sustainability and strategic decision-making. Responsibilities

Provide leadership for financial management, regulatory compliance, and human resources functions. Supervise internal staff and manage outsourced financial and HR services. Ensure compliance across financial operations, grant reporting, payroll, benefits, and employment practices. Lead the annual budget process and monitor financial performance. Partner with the CEO and Finance Committee to provide insights that support organizational sustainability and strategic decision-making. Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field required; CPA, CMA, SHRM certification, or advanced degree preferred. Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or business management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Nonprofit or mission-driven sector experience strongly preferred. Financial Expertise

Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls. Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and audit preparation. Familiarity with fund accounting, grant reporting, and compliance. Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar) and advanced Excel skills. Human Resources Expertise

Knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO). Experience overseeing payroll, benefits administration, and HRIS systems. Demonstrated ability to support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and professional development. Skilled in employee relations, policy development, and promoting a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
